The popular antidepressant Paxil, already the subject of litigation on suicide and withdrawal issues, has recently become the focus of personal injury, products liability, and wrongful death lawsuits claiming that women who took the drug during pregnancy gave birth to babies with congenital heart and lung defects. First approved in the United States in 1992, Paxil is one of the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants that includes Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, and Zoloft.
